University Center for the Arts

Project Description

In 2004, Seton Hill University recognized that the historic Palace Theater in downtown Greensburg was too large for intimate performances and that a smaller performing arts facility was needed to accommodate university and community artists. The University was committed to a creating a strong presence in downtown Greensburg, but lacked an adequate site for construction. M&L helped the University secure a $5M State RACP grant, prepare a $1.7M Section 108 loan application, and organized the public financing aspects of the project. The new University Center is a $15M, 50,000-square foot complex that now houses Seton Hill University’s music and drama departments, a 450-seat auditorium for the performing arts, a 400-seat flexible black box theater, and related storage and dressing areas, classrooms, rehearsal space, teaching studios, and faculty offices.
